
الجامعة التكنولوجية تستضيف مهرجان (ضامن الجنة ) برعاية العتبة العباسية المقدسة لتكريم الطالبات
The University of Technology hosted the “Dhamin Al Jan’a” festival, sponsored by the General Secretariat of the Holy Al-Abbas Shrine and organized by the “Jamaiyoon” Association. The event was held to commemorate the birth of Imam Ali ibn Musa Al-Ridha (peace be upon him) and to honor female university students who wear the traditional Islamic abaya.
The festival was attended by the Assistant President of the University for Administrative Affairs, Prof. Dr. Farhad Mohammed Othman; the representative of the Al-Abbas Shrine, Sayyed Adnan Jallokhan Al-Mousawi; the Dean of the College of Computer Engineering, Prof. Dr. Hassan Jalil; the college’s Administrative Assistant, Dr. Ahmed Musa Dinar; Director of the Student Activities Department, Dr. Ameen Thanoon; Head of Intellectual Affairs at the Shrine, Mr. Aqeel Al-Yasiri; and a large number of students. The event took place in the College of Computer Engineering hall.
In his speech, the Assistant for Administrative Affairs emphasized the University of Technology’s ongoing cooperation with the Al-Abbas Shrine in celebrating such events, considering the festival a testament to this relationship. The representative of the Holy Shrine followed with a speech highlighting the importance of modest dress for Muslim women, referencing various Quranic verses and narrations from the Prophet’s household (peace be upon them). He also warned against deviant ideologies promoting the abandonment of religious values under the guise of freedom.
The event featured a visual presentation by the Al-Abbas Shrine, showcasing a sermon by the representative of the Supreme Religious Authority in Karbala, Sayyed Ahmed Al-Safi. In his sermon, he addressed hundreds of female students, stressing the significance of adhering to religious dress codes as a form of honoring women. He also underscored the importance of women continuing their education, as they play a vital role in building and advancing the nation and shaping future generations.
The festival included several religious chants celebrating love for the Prophet’s family (peace be upon them).
The event ended with the Al-Abbas Shrine representative presenting a commemorative gift to the Assistant for Administrative Affairs. Gifts were also distributed to female students wearing the abaya, in appreciation of their commitment to following the example of the pure women of the Prophet’s family and upholding the values and principles of Islam and society.
