College of Communications Engineering held a lecture on (Negative Phenomena within Iraqi Society and their Impact on Women’s Psychological and Mental Health)

As part of the college’s cultural and scientific season for the academic year 2024-2025, and under the direct supervision of the Dean of the College, Assistant Professor Dr. Afaneen Anwar Abboud, the College of Communications Engineering organized a seminar entitled “A Seminar on Negative Phenomena within Iraqi Society and their Impact on Women’s Psychological and Mental Health.” The seminar was presented by Lecturer Hanin Rashid Majeed, and was attended by the Scientific Associate Professor Dr. Ali Jabbar Salem, the Administrative Associate Professor Hussam Hussein Ali, the Head of the Optical Communications Department Assistant Professor Dr. Mustafa Dhia Haseeb, the Head of the Wireless Communications Department Professor Dr. Mohammed Hussein Mari, and a number of faculty members and staff of the college.

The seminar addressed the effects of harassment in Iraqi society, as harassment is considered a social phenomenon that is increasingly occurring day after day, not only in Western societies but also in Arab and Islamic societies, and Iraqi society in particular, which was the focus of the seminar.

Despite being a phenomenon surrounded by much secrecy and ambiguity, there are several indicators that have shown that harassment is a global social phenomenon suffered by human societies in all their categories.

The lecture discussed the types of harassment, the psychology of the harasser, and the most important measures that must be taken in the event of exposure to any type of harassment inside or outside the workplace, as well as explaining the most important penalties stipulated by Iraqi law and the discipline of state employees to prevent the spread of the phenomenon of harassment.
