Workshop to introduce “3D printing, its types and uses” in the Electromechanical Engineering Department

The Oil and Gas Equipment Engineering Branch in the Department of Electromechanical Engineering held a workshop about 3D printing, its types and uses, delivered by Lec. Dr. Aqeel Abdul Karim, in the presence of the department’s rapporteur, Assistant Professor Dr. Akram Hamza Abd, and a number of faculty members and students of the department.

The workshop aimed to introduce attendees to 3D printing, its importance in electromechanical applications, and the possibility of using it in manufacturing aircraft models and robots used in oil equipment. The types of printers available in this field were also reviewed.

The workshop also included two pivots:

  • The first is defining 3D printing, the types of printers used, and how they work.
  • The second pivot addressed the uses of 3D printing in various engineering, medical, and other fields.

The projects completed in the department using 3D printers were also presented. Finally, some useful interventions were provided, which were answered by the lecturer.
