Civil Engineering Department organizes a scientific visit to the Hindiyah Dam Project

Under the patronage of the Head of Civil Engineering Department, Prof. Dr. Ali Majeed Khudir, and under the supervision of the Head of Water and Hydraulic Structures Engineering Division, Prof.  Dr. Mustafa Majeed Abdul-A’immah Al-Mukhtar, the department organized a scientific visit for students from Water and Hydraulic Structures Division to the Hindiyah Dam Project in Babil Governorate. They were accompanied by the Head of the Department and a number of department faculty members.

The delegation was briefed on the project and was shown the various components of the dam, including the gates and hydroelectric power station, as well as the navigation and irrigation canals.

The Hindiyah Dam is considered one of the most important strategic projects in Iraq. It was constructed in 1989 to replace the old dam, which was built in the late nineteenth century.
