The Biomedical Engineering Department Organizes a Workshop to Mark the Golden Jubilee of the University of Technology

To mark the golden jubilee of the University of Technology, the Department of Biomedical Engineering held an introductory workshop with the participation of a select group of faculty members. The event began with an introductory lecture on the Medical Devices Laboratory, presented by Asst.L. Saja Bashir Atallah. She highlighted the importance of medical devices in the healthcare sector and the role of biomedical engineers in developing and maintaining them, which contributes to improving the quality of healthcare.

This was followed by a lecture which presented by Engineer Bilal Samir Rashid on ventilator technology. The lecture included an explanation of how these devices work, the most prominent recent developments, and their vital role in preserving patients’ lives, especially in critical conditions. The workshops concluded with a joint lecture delivered by Engineer Asmaa Salim Zamel and Engineer Nour Saad Mahmoud, addressing cybersecurity and its importance in the medical and healthcare sectors. The lecture focused on defining cybersecurity and raising awareness of the need to protect personal and university accounts from hacking. It emphasized the importance of avoiding accessing untrusted websites and the importance of protecting hospital data and patient personal information from leakage or manipulation. The workshops were characterized by fruitful interaction from the attendees, highlighting the high academic and practical level of the department.
