Biomedical Engineering Department at the University of Technology held a workshop entitled “The Role of Universities and Educated Elites in Raising Awareness of Human Rights” delivered by Dr. Ali Fadl in the presence of a number of the department’s lecturers.

The lecturer touched on the university’s contribution and role in promoting a culture of human rights and the role of university lecturers and workers as the (educated elite), which represents the group working in the field of culture, and in producing awareness that it is keen to spread in society through several channels, including: books, press, television, as well as the universities in which this elite works, stressing the interconnectedness of human rights principles and their indivisibility. This education links human rights with the real experiences of learners, which helps them address their needs in this field and search for solutions that are in line with human rights standards. It also develops the capabilities of individuals responsible for respecting and protecting the rights of others, in addition to the importance of creating an encouraging and fear-free educational environment, so that human rights principles are embodied in the content and style of education.
