
Chemical Engineering Department Organizes Workshop on Psychological Fitness and Life Skills
Under the patronage of the President of the University of Technology, Prof. Dr. Ahmed Mohammed Hassan Al-Ghabban, the Department of Chemical Engineering held an educational and cultural workshop entitled “Psychological Fitness and Life Skills”.
The lecture was delivered by Dr. Walid Abdel-Moneim from the Open Education University, who presented a detailed overview of the concept of psychological fitness and indicators of psychological balance in individuals. He emphasized that psychological fitness is a fundamental factor in human life, requiring individuals to possess various abilities, capabilities, and personal qualities that help them face challenges, be productive, creative, and successful, thus contributing as good citizens to society. Furthermore, it is a cornerstone in confronting anxiety and stress, which are the primary enemies of psychological and mental stability, necessitating their prevention before occurrence and knowing how to eliminate them if they arise. The lecture also highlighted the importance of achieving mental and psychological balance in individuals.
In this regard, the Head of the Chemical Engineering Department, Professor Dr. Khaled Ajami Sukkar, emphasized the importance of this lecture in enhancing the culture of psychological fitness among students, as they are the youth of the future and the builders of the nation. The lecturer explained that psychological fitness is one of the main factors affecting the quality of our lives, as it refers to a person’s ability to cope with life’s stresses and adapt to daily challenges in a healthy and effective manner to maintain good health. This requires individuals to take care of their psychological fitness continuously by following a set of tips and guidelines that help enhance psychological fitness and maintain mental health. At the conclusion of the lecture, a certificate of appreciation was awarded by the Department’s Presidency to the lecturer in recognition of his efforts in delivering the lecture.
