Civil Engineering Department Participates in National Afforestation Day Activities

Under the direction of the Dean of the Civil Engineering Department, Prof. Dr. Ali Majeed Khudair, and as part of the National Afforestation Day activities, the Civil Engineering Department at the University of Technology organized a planting and afforestation campaign in the department’s courtyard. The campaign was attended by the Administrative Assistant Prof. Dr. Wael Shawqi Abdul Sahib, and a number of faculty members, staff, and students of the department.

A variety of evergreen trees were planted, in addition to a range of seasonal agricultural seedlings, to contribute to increasing green spaces, improve the aesthetic appearance of the department, and showcase it in its finest and most beautiful form, enhancing environmental sustainability. Furthermore, the campaign aimed to develop and encourage volunteer work among students in planting vegetation, given its positive effects in providing a healthy atmosphere, improving the environment, and caring for the department’s aesthetics.

The event included organizing a competition to select the most beautiful environmental photo, as well as initiating an initiative for students and staff to adopt a tree.
