College of Architectural Engineering Holds Workshop on Tactical Interventions in Urban Development Projects
Under the patronage of the Dean of the College of Architectural Engineering at the University of Technology, Professor Dr. Abbas Ali Hamza, a scientific workshop entitled “Tactical Interventions in Urban Development Projects: Integrating Traditional Design Techniques and Artificial Intelligence in Urban Design Tools” was organized, with the presence of the Assistant Dean for Scientific Affairs, Assistant Professor Dr. Mufeed Al-Shawk.
The workshop aimed to clarify the methods of employing artificial intelligence in urban design projects. The lecturers discussed tactical interventions as a contemporary trend in urban design and pointed out the designer’s ability, skills, and experience in preparing the design idea through traditional sketches. They also clarified the forms and software of artificial intelligence that can develop the project and provide design and technical alternatives for the design. This is achieved through a dialogue led by the designer, who utilizes the best capabilities of artificial intelligence in integrating formal, spatial, and environmental solutions.
At the conclusion of the workshop, the Assistant Dean for Scientific Affairs, Assistant Professor Dr. Mufeed Al-Shawk, presented certificates of appreciation to the lecturers: Professor Dr. Wahida Shukr Mahmoud from the Department of Architectural Engineering at the University of Technology; Lecturer Dr. Sarah Munther from the Department of Architectural Engineering; and Assistant Professor Dr. Zuhair Nassar and Lecturer Dr. Mahmoud Al-Moussawi, all from the College of Urban Planning at the University of Kufa.
