
College of Biomedical Engineering Organizes a Lecture on Cyber Blackmail
The College of Biomedical Engineering at the University of Technology, in cooperation with the Department of Studies and Planning, organized a qualitative scientific lecture entitled: “Cyber Blackmail – Causes and Mechanisms to Combat and Eliminate It.”
This lecture, delivered by lecturer Dalia Muhammad Ali Hassan, is part of the activities of the Psychological Counseling and Educational Guidance Unit. The lecture was attended by a number of faculty members and students from the college, reflecting the growing interest in combating this dangerous phenomenon that threatens the security of digital society.
The workshop addressed several pivotal, most notably:
- Defining cyber blackmail as a digital crime that exploits victims financially or morally through modern technological means.
- Identifying the groups most vulnerable to blackmail, primarily women, children, and students.
- Emphasizing the need for awareness and legal protection.
- It also emphasized prevention and combat mechanisms through spreading digital awareness, early reporting, and enforcing deterrent laws.
- The lecturer emphasized that cyber-extortion poses a real challenge that requires concerted technical, educational, and legal efforts.
She emphasized the importance of instilling ethical values and promoting a culture of safe technology use to build a healthy and safe online environment for all.
