College of Chemical Engineering Hosts Scientific Lecture on the Future of the Gas Industry in Iraq

The Department of Oil Refining Engineering and Gas Technology at the College of Chemical Engineering organized a scientific lecture titled “The Future of the Gas Industry in Iraq.”

The lecture was delivered by Dr. Youssef Jawad Kazem, expert and Director of the Curriculum Department at the Oil Training Institute of the Ministry of Oil. He presented a detailed overview of the current state of the gas industry in Iraq, highlighting its significant role in the global energy market and its growing importance to industrialized nations. He emphasized that many countries around the world are increasingly shifting toward gas as a major energy source due to its diverse applications, whether in power generation or various industrial sectors. Iraq, in particular, possesses vast reserves of natural gas that can be strategically harnessed.

The session, chaired by Dr. Samira Najm Abdullah, also addressed the main challenges facing the utilization and processing of natural gas in Iraq, including key issues related to gas transportation projects and infrastructure.

At the end of the lecture, the College Dean presented Dr. Youssef with a certificate of appreciation in recognition of his efforts and valuable contribution.
