College of Civil Engineering Organizes a Scientific Visit to the Dora Refinery

Under the patronage of the Dean of the College of Civil Engineering, Prof. Dr. Ali Majeed, and the Head of the Department of Road and Geotechnical Engineering, Asst. Prof. Dr. Mekki Kamel, Road and Geotechnical Engineering Department organized a scientific visit for sophomore & junior students to Dora Refinery in Baghdad, affiliated with the Middle Refineries Company. The students were accompanied by a group of faculty members from the department.

This visit is part of scientific activities aimed at enhancing the students’ practical skills and linking them to the theoretical aspects. The students were received by the Director General and the Deputy Director General, who explained to the students the nature of work at the refinery in detail.

The students learned about the refining of crude oil, the production of various petroleum derivatives, and the composition of asphalt materials of various grades for road and paving purposes.

The visit included interactive explanations for the students and faculty members by engineers working at the refinery.
