Computer Science Department at the University of Technology organize a lecture on women’s rights and gender equality

Computer Science Department at the University of Technology organized a lecture entitled “Women’s Rights and Gender Equality” today, Thursday, February 13, 2025, in cooperation with the Office of the Assistant President of Scientific Affairs and Graduate Studies/Human Rights Division, in the late Dr. Imad Kahdim Hall in the department building.

 

This lecture was supervised by the Head of the Department of Computer Science, Professor Dr. Alaa Kahdim Farhan, and presented by Assistant Professor Dr. Rana Riyadh Khalil, in the presence of the Director of Scientific Affairs and Cultural Relations in the department, Dr. Anmar Ali.

The meeting discussed the concept of women’s empowerment and its importance in facing life’s challenges and enhancing their role as free leaders in making their decisions, in addition to highlighting the need to establish units to empower women in ministries and government institutions and provide leadership training programs that ensure equal opportunities between the genders, as well as supporting small projects to help women achieve economic independence.

This activity comes within the efforts of the Computer Science Department at the University of Technology to support the Sustainable Development Goals, specifically the fifth goal related to gender equality, which was approved by the United Nations in 2015 to build more stable and prosperous societies by 2030.

At the end of the event, the Computer Science Department presented a certificate of appreciation to the lecturer as an appreciation for her valuable efforts in giving the lecture and spreading awareness about the importance of women’s empowerment and their active role in society.
