
Department of Communications Engineering Organizes a Seminar on Modern Methods in Sustainable Agriculture
As part of the 2024-2025 Cultural and Scientific Season, and under the direct supervision of the Head of the Communications Engineering Department at the University of Technology, Asst. Prof. Dr. Afanin Anwar Abboud.
The department organized a seminar titled “Modern Methods in Sustainable Agriculture Towards a Better Nutrition Future.” Which was delivered by Asst. Lec. Nisreen Najm Abdul Wahid, with the attendance of Scientific Deputy Prof. Dr. Ali Jabbar Salem and Administrative DeputyAsst. Prof. Dr. Hussam Hussein Ali, Head of the Optical Communications Branch Asst. Prof. Dr. Mustafa Diaa Hassib, Head of the Wireless Communications Branch Prof. Dr. Mohammad Hussein Mari, and several faculty members and department staff.
The workshop aimed to introduce the concept of sustainable agriculture, the importance of achieving nutrition security and preserving natural resources, how to improve crop productivity to meet growing demand, and how to enhance digital and smart agriculture through data analysis and smart technologies.
The workshop reached a set of recommendations, the most important of which was:
- Modern technologies are an urgent necessity for sustainable agriculture.
- Modern technologies, such as artificial intelligence, smart systems, and drones, have proven their ability to improve agricultural productivity and reduce waste.
- Sustainable agriculture is the best solution to climate change.
- Modern technologies help manage resources effectively, making the agricultural sector more resilient to environmental challenges, such as water scarcity and desertification.
- Modern agricultural innovations have reduced reliance on old processes, which has contributed to improving production quality and protecting the environment.
