
Department of Computer Science organizes an awareness workshop on the importance of green cover.
Under the supervision of the Head of Computer Science Department, Prof. Dr. Alaa Kahdim Farhan, the department organized an awareness workshop on the importance of green cover and its positive impact on public health on the occasion of National Afforestation Day. The workshop was held at the late Dr. Imad Kahdim Hall, with the attendance of faculty and students’ department. The workshop was delivered by the Director of the Media Unit, Senior Chief Research, Raghad Kamel Hamoudi.
The workshop aimed to raise awareness about the importance of green cover and its role in providing a safe and clean urban environment. Green spaces encourage exercise and cycling, improve overall mood, treat high blood pressure and diabetes type2, children’s cognitive development, and maintain the health of human respiratory system.
The lecture addressed plants and their types, determining what is suitable for the soil, planting times, which fall in February and March, and the risks of planting due to the spread of pollen, which causes allergies and contributes to the increase of agricultural pests.
The workshop included a presentation on the same topic by students from the Computer Security and Cybersecurity Department. At the conclusion of the workshop, the head of the Computer Security and Cybersecurity Department, Dr. Rana Mohammed Hassan, awarded the lecturer a certificate of appreciation in recognition of her efforts in presenting the workshop.
