Department of Mechanical Engineering Actively Participates in National Afforestation Campaign

As part of its commitment to spreading environmental awareness and promoting sustainability, Mechanical Engineering Department at the University of Technology participated actively in Afforestation campaign that organized by University of Technology on the occasion of National Afforestation Day. The campaign was held under the patronage of Professor Mohsen Nouri Hamza, President of the University of Technology, and under the supervision of Professor Alaa Abdul Hadi Jabr, Head of the Mechanical Engineering Department.

The campaign witnessed a large turnout of Mechanical Engineering faculty and students, along with the Scientific Assistant, Professor Dr. Khawla Salah Khashan, and the Administrative Assistant, Professor Dr. Farhad Muhammad Othman, in addition to branches heads and faculty members from various departments. Participants contributed to planting trees throughout the university, emphasizing the importance of environmental conservation as part of the department’s scientific and engineering mission.

Mechanical Engineering Department emphasizes that this participation is part of its commitment to promoting sustainability and implementing engineering solutions to protect the environment. The department works to integrate the concepts of sustainability and clean energy into its curricula and field activities, with the aim of preparing engineers who are aware of their responsibilities towards the environment and society.

Participants expressed their pride in this environmental activity, emphasizing the importance of afforestation in reducing environmental pollution and improving the quality of life on and off campus. They also affirmed the department’s continued support for such initiatives, which reflect the university’s awareness of its responsibility toward the environment.
