Department of Mechanical Engineering Organizes an Online Workshop on Early Detection of Drug Abuse

Under the patronage of University of Technology President, Prof. Dr. Mohsen Nouri Hamza, and direct supervision of the Head of the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Prof. Dr. Alaa Abdul Hadi Jabr, the department, in cooperation with Continuous Education Center and the Division of Psychological Counseling and Educational Guidance, organized an online workshop entitled:

(Early Detection of Drug Abuse among Youth / Preventive intervention)

The workshop, run by Prof. Dr. Ahlam Taha, Charge of Educational Guidance Unit in the department, and delivered by Dr. Abdul Hamid Salem Al-Barrak, addressed the importance of early detection of drug abuse among youth, effective interventions to limit the spread of this phenomenon, in addition to prevention and awareness strategies.

There was a significant interaction at the workshop from students and faculty members, with numerous questions raised and discussions held about how to deal with these cases from a medical and psychological perspective.

This workshop is part of a series of awareness-raising events organized by Mechanical Engineering Department, aimed spreading health and psychological awareness among students, enhancing the university’s role in serving the community, and reducing negative phenomena affecting young people.
