
Department of Production Engineering and Metallurgy holds a symposium on empowering youth and graduates to enter the labor market.
Under the patronage of the President of the University of Technology, Prof. Dr. Mohsen Nouri Hamza, Metallurgy Engineering Branch of the Department of Production Engineering and Metallurgy at the University of Technology, in cooperation with the Scientific Care Department of the Ministry of Youth and Sports, held a scientific engineering symposium entitled “Empowering Youth and Graduates to Enter the Labor Market.” The symposium was attended by Assistant President of Administrative Affairs, Prof. Dr. Farhad Muhammad Othman, the Head of the Department of Production Engineering and Metallurgy, Asst. Prof. Dr. Muhannad Mohammed Hussein Al-Khafaji, and number of academic faculty, department staff, and students. The symposium began with the recitation of verses from the Holy Quran, followed by Surat Al-Fatihah in memory of Iraq’s martyrs and the educational journey. The national anthem was then played. The Administrative President of Administrative Affairs delivered a brief speech on the importance of empowering graduates to enter the job market, emphasizing that “the university is a factory for graduates, and it is responsible for ensuring the qualifications of graduates, which depend primarily on the quality of education and teaching.” The head of the Department of Production Engineering and Metallurgy then delivered his speech, in which he explained that “youth are the pillars of society and the most important reasons for its progress. They are the ones who create civilizations.” He added that they are “strength, determination, dreams, ambition, and a love of exploration.” He pointed out that Islam has emphasized the great status they enjoy.
The symposium included two sessions:
The first one consists of:
- Dr. Israa Abdul Qader Aziz / the head.
- Prof. Dr. Hussam Lafta Alwan / the rapporteur.
It included four papers.
- The first addressed the scientific programs and services, it provided by Scientific Care for Youth Division, at the Ministry of Youth and Sports. It was delivered by Chief Engineer Senior Maan Adnan and Senior Engineer Basma Ibrahim from the Ministry of Youth and Sports.
- The second paper was about empowering youth and graduates to integrate into the labor market and was delivered by Senior Physicist Mariam Samir Abdel Sattar, Senior Statistician Nour Imad El-Din, and Asst. Prof. Mohammed Abdul-Latif.
- The third paper was about graduate migration and the resulting drain on human resources in society, delivered by Prof. Dr. Sami Ibrahim Jaafar Al-Rubaie, Prof. Dr. Ali Munther Mustafa, and Prof. Dr. Firas Farhan Sayed.
- The final paper was about investing in the energies of university graduates from the perspective of global graduate investment, delivered by Prof. Dr. Ali Abar Khalif, Asst. Prof. Dr. Hassanein Adnan Abdul-Wahab, and Lec. Dr. Sondos Mohammed Nouri.
The second session consists of:-
- Dr. Sami Ibrahim Jaafar Al-Rubaie / the head.
- Dr. Ali Munther Mustafa / the rapporteur.
It included three papers.
- The first one, “Empowering Young Graduates to Establish Small and Medium Enterprises,” was delivered by Prof. Dr. Israa Abdul Qader Aziz, Prof. Dr. Makarem Hazem Abdul Karim, and Asst. Prof. Dr. Faten Noman Abdullah.
- The second paper, “A Comprehensive Approach to Empowering Youth and Integrating them into the Labor Market,” was presented by Iraqi inventor Ghazwane Al-Azara, President of the General Syndicate of Iraqi Inventors and Researchers.
