Communications Engineering Department organizes a discussion session on the impact of drugs and psychotropic substances on the nervous system

As part of the activities of the cultural and scientific season of the department for the year 2024-2025 and under the supervision of the head of the department, Assistant Professor Dr. Afanin Anwar Abboud, the Department of Communications Engineering at the University of Technology organized a discussion session entitled “The impact of drugs and psychotropic substances on the nervous system” delivered by the head of the researchers and psychotherapist Amir Abbas Salman and Professor Imad Ali Hammadi, in the presence of the head of the Optical Communications Branch, Assistant Professor Dr. Mustafa Diaa Hassib, and the head of the Wireless Communications Branch, Professor Dr. Muhammad Hussein Mari, and a number of faculty members, affiliates and students of the department. The discussion session aimed to clarify the extent of the danger of drugs and their harm to human health and to the nervous system in particular and their psychological and physical harm. The lecturer also mentioned the most prominent diseases that may affect the addict, such as lung cancer, loss of appetite, insomnia, fatigue, gastric ulcer, high blood pressure, and a faster than usual heartbeat, in addition to its effect on the nervous system, which leads to memory loss.
