Electromechanical Engineering Department discusses the master’s thesis entitled (Investigation of Thermal Performance of Solar Collector with Spiral Absorber and Phase Change Material)

The Department of Electromechanical Engineering at the University of Technology discussed the master’s thesis entitled (Investigation of Thermal Performance of Solar Collector with Spiral Absorber and Phase Change Material)

(Study of the thermal performance of the solar collector using the spiral absorber and phase change materials) by the researcher Nabaa Ahmed Abdul Jabbar, specializing in (Energy Engineering and Renewable Energy).

The thesis aimed to design a new type of circular air-cooled solar collectors, and its air flow channel contains circular tubes filled with paraffin wax (PCM) to store and recover energy after sunset.

The researcher reached a high percentage increase in thermal efficiency, making it an effective design for using solar energy to heat air.

The discussion committee consisted of (Prof. Dr. Hashem Abdul Hussein as Chairman, Prof. Dr. Adel Abdul Aziz Eidan as a member, Asst. Dr. Rasha Fahim Nazim as a member, Prof. Dr. Jalal Muhammad Jalil as a member and supervisor, and Asst. Dr. Ghassan Abdul Hussein Bilal as a member and supervisor).

The discussion ended with the student being awarded a Master’s degree in Energy and Renewable Energy Engineering with a grade of (Excellent).
