Professor Dr. Shaimaa Hameed Shaker, a faculty member from the Department of Computer Networks and Web Development at the College of Computer Science, participated with a research paper entitled “(Protection Techniques Against Cyber Violence)” in the proceedings of the Tenth General Conference of the Arab Women Organization, held under the slogan “(Communication, Empowerment, and Protection of Women and Girls from Cyber Violence and Violence Resulting from Technology and Artificial Intelligence),” which took place in Cairo from May 5-6, 2025.
In this research paper, women aged 14 to 45 who had been exposed to cyber violence, a virtual reality through the internet and its applications confined to smart devices, were selected. The paper included the violations women are subjected to, such as electronic harassment, electronic blackmail, account theft, unauthorized access, defamation, spreading rumors, and identity theft.
The research paper presented recommendations to legislators and platform owners to provide protection against cyber violence.
