The Department of Computer Science organizes a lecture on drugs and their effects on youth.

Under the supervision of the Head of the Department of Computer Science, Professor Dr. Alaa Kazem Farhan, the Department of Computer Science at the University of Technology organized a lecture on drugs, their effects on youth, and prevention methods. The lecture took place in the Late Dr. Imad Kazem Hall, as part of the government program to combat drugs, with the presence of the academic assistant, Assistant Professor Dr. Mustafa Jassim, the administrative assistant, Assistant Professor Dr. Bashar Saadoun Mahdi, along with faculty members and students from the department.

The lecture was delivered by Dr. Zainab Abdul-Razzaq Al-Jouri, a specialist doctor, who defined drugs as a group of substances that cause addiction and damage the nervous system. She explained that addiction is a strong desire to continue using these substances, which negatively affect both individuals and society. She also pointed out signs indicating a person may be addicted, such as aggression, isolation, and absenteeism from work.

She emphasized the importance of preventing drug use by increasing awareness of its harms, treating psychological disorders, maintaining communication with family members, and avoiding bad company.

The academic assistant presented a certificate of appreciation to the lecturer in recognition of her efforts in delivering the lecture.
