Mechanical Engineering Lecturer Publishes Research in Clarivate and Scopus Indexed International Journal

Dr. Zainab Jawad Kadhim, a lecturer at the College of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Technology, has published a scientific paper in the Journal of Inorganic and Organometallic Polymers and Materials, issued by the international publisher Springer Nature. The journal is indexed in Clarivate with an Impact Factor of 3.9 and in Scopus in the first quartile (Q1), with a CiteScore of 0.7. The research, entitled: “Insights into the Microstructure, Optical, Dielectric, and Biological Features of HA@MoS Reinforced PEO/SA Nanocomposite Films for Optoelectronics, Sunscreens, Energy Storage, and Bactericidal Applications”

The study involved preparing nanocomposite films reinforced with varying concentrations of nano metal oxides (HA@MoS) using a casting technique within a matrix of PEO/SA biopolymers. A series of structural and diagnostic tests were conducted to evaluate the optical, electrical, micro-structural, and biological properties of these films.

The results showed the potential for using these films in optical applications as UV absorbers and sunscreens. Furthermore, bacterial activity tests proved that the prepared films exhibited high effectiveness in inhibiting the growth of E. coli and Staphylococcus aureus within clear inhibition zones. Additionally, electrical measurements indicated that the incorporation of nano oxides led to improved dielectric constants and conductivity, enhancing their viability as semiconductor materials in industrial, electronic, and medical applications. This scientific achievement reflects the high level of research competency within the college and the dedicated efforts to elevate the University of Technology’s standing in global academic publishing.
