Power Plant Engineering Department Holds its Third Graduation Projects Festival

Under the patronage of the President of the University of Technology, Professor Dr. Mohsen Nouri Hamza, and under the supervision of the Dean of the College of Mechanical Engineering, Professor Dr. Alaa Abdul Hadi Jabr, and with direct organization by the Head of the Power Plant Engineering Department, Assistant Professor Dr. Suhad Abdul Hameed Rasheed, the department held its third student festival for graduation projects, under the slogan: “Power Plant Engineer and Sustainable Environment Challenges” in the Dr. Munir Al-Mudhaffar Hall at the college.

The festival program included a speech by the Dean of the College, in which he stated: “The selection of the slogan ‘Power Plant Engineer and Sustainable Environment Challenges’ for the festival stems from our deep awareness of the increasing environmental challenges facing the energy sector globally and in Iraq in particular, and the pivotal role that a power plant engineer can play in confronting these challenges by adopting sustainability concepts and their applications in the design, operation, and maintenance of power generation plants.”

Dr. Jabr added: “The Power Plant Mechanical Engineering Branch, despite its recent establishment in the academic year 2015-2016, which is about ten years ago, has taken confident steps towards achieving its goals of preparing specialized engineers capable of keeping pace with the rapid development in the field of power generation, and of actively contributing to meeting the needs of the electricity sector in Iraq for well-qualified engineering personnel”. “From this standpoint,” he continued, “this festival comes to combine the theoretical aspect and the practical aspect embodied in the graduation projects of our dear fourth-year students. These projects represent the culmination of the knowledge and skills they have acquired during their years of study and reflect their ability to apply this knowledge in solving real-world problems related to their field of specialization.”

“These projects represent the fruit of continuous effort exerted by the students under the supervision of their distinguished professors, and they reflect the level of academic and scientific maturity they have reached, and their ability to apply what they have learned in solving real problems and developing new technologies.”

Dr. Jabr commended the efforts of the students and their supervising professors on these projects, thanking the committees for their sincere efforts in organizing this festival. The Power Plant Engineering Department Holds its Third Graduation Projects Festival
