
Second Secretary at the Australian Embassy Visits Computer Science Department
The Second Secretary at the Australian Embassy in Baghdad, Elliot Mann, visited the Department of Computer Science at the University of Technology. He was received by the Dean of the Department, Professor Dr. Alaa Kadhim Farhan, the assistants, and heads of branches.
This visit comes after the approval of the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Naim Al-Aboudi, to participate in discussions related to Iraq’s efforts in addressing climate change, policy, international relations, economy, cybersecurity, and communications.
During the visit, a presentation was given on the projects of students in the Computer Security and Cybersecurity branch, including the project of student Ayham Haider from the fourth stage, entitled “Understanding Attacker Behavior in Accessing Sensitive Information and How to Prevent Unauthorized Access,” as well as the project of student Haider Basem from the fourth stage, entitled “Wi-Fi Network Penetration Testing and Security Methods,” the project of student Muhaimin Ahmed from the third stage on his research entitled “Program Analysis to Detect Vulnerabilities,” and finally, the project of student Sarhan Emad from the fourth stage on the use of phishing to protect and educate users from fake links. The laboratories of the department were also inspected.
At the end of the visit, the guest expressed his admiration and appreciation for the scientific level of the computer science students.
