Second Secretary of Australian Embassy in Baghdad Visits Computer Science Department

The Second Secretary of the Australian Embassy in Baghdad, Mr. Elliot Mann, visited the Department of Computer Science on Monday, February 24, 2025. He was received by the Dean of the department, Professor Dr. Alaa Kazem Farhan, the deputies, and the heads of the branches.

This visit comes after the approval of His Excellency the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Naim Al-Aboudi, to participate in discussions related to Iraq’s efforts in addressing climate change, policy, international and economic relations, cybersecurity, and communications. During the visit, a presentation of the projects of the students of the Computer Security and Cybersecurity branch was presented. Among these projects is the project of the student Ayham Haider from the fourth stage, entitled “Understanding the behavior of attackers by accessing sensitive information and how to prevent unauthorized access.” And, the project of the student Haider Bassem from the fourth stage, entitled “Penetration testing of Wi-Fi networks and methods of securing them,” and the project of the student Muhaimin Ahmed from the third stage on his research entitled “Analyzing programs to detect vulnerabilities,” and finally the project of the student Sarhan Imad from the fourth stage on the use of phishing to protect and educate users from fake links.

The laboratories of the department were also visited. At the end of the visit, the guest expressed his admiration and appreciation for the scientific level of the computer science students.
