Specifications: The Foundation of Knowledge and Their Role in the Job Market”, Workshop in Mechanical Engineering Department
Under the patronage of the President of the University of Technology, Prof. Dr. Ahmed Mohammed Hassan al-Ghabban, and under the supervision of the Head of the Mechanical Engineering Department, Prof. Dr. Mohsen Nuri Hamza, in cooperation with the Scientific Affairs Department and the Engineering and Scientific Consultancy Office, the Mechanical Engineering Department organized a lecture on “Specifications: The Foundation of Knowledge and Their Role in the Job Market,” delivered by the consulting engineer, Mohammed Sami Hussein Jodi, a member of the National Association for Engineering Examination and Civil Defence. The lecture was attended by a number of faculty members from the department and the university in the Dr. Munir al-Mufar hall.
The lecturer highlighted the importance of international specifications such as those of the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM), the American Petroleum Institute (API), the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO), and the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), in addition to Indian Standards (IS). He also presented examples of these specifications and provided commentary on them.
The lecture concluded with an open discussion and scientific questions that added an interactive and fruitful atmosphere. Afterwards, the head of the department presented a certificate of appreciation to the consulting engineer in recognition of his valuable contribution in delivering the lecture.
