The Administrative Assistant inaugurates the Technological University Chess Championship

Wide participation and computer and mechanics crowned with the title of male and female students

 

Under the patronage of the President of the Technological University, Professor Dr. Ahmed Muhammad Hassan Al-Ghaban, the Assistant President of the University for Administrative Affairs, Professor Dr. Farhad Muhammad Othman, inaugurated the Technological University Chess Championship for male and female students for the academic year 2024-2025, which was held on Monday, October 14, 2024, in the Central Library Hall at the university, in the presence of the Administrative Assistant of the Department of Electrical Engineering, Assistant Professor Dr. Kanaan Ali, Director of the Student Activities Department, Assistant Professor Dr. Amin Dhnoon, Director of the Central Library, Assistant Professor Dr. Ziad Qasim Habib, Director of the Department of Media and Government Communication, Assistant Professor Dr. Sari Tahseen Rishan, Director of the Department of Diwan Affairs, Assistant Professor Zaid Al-Anbari, and a number of professors and students of the university.

 

The tournament competitions witnessed wide participation for the first time in the history of the university’s chess championships, represented by the participation of 67 male students and 17 female students representing the engineering and scientific departments at the university.

Computer First for Students

Student Ali Nizar from the Computer Science Department won the Student Competition title after collecting 7 points from winning all matches in the tournament held according to the Swiss system of 7 rounds. Second place went to student Rawid Mustafa from the Computer Engineering Department with 6 points, breaking the tie with student Wael Salah from the Control and Systems Engineering Department, who came in third with the same number of points. Fourth place went to student Ali Mundhir from the Laser and Optoelectronics Engineering Department, breaking the tie with student Mustafa Ahmed from the Control and Systems Engineering Department, each with 5 and a half points.

Student Ali Nizar was able to win first place by defeating players Ahmed Muwaffaq, Mohammed Baqer and Nazir Juma, all from the Control and Systems Engineering Department, and Ali Rawid Mustafa from the Computer Engineering Department, Mohammed Hussein Rasool from the Oil and Gas Engineering Department, Murtada Jalal from the Applied Sciences Department, and Murtada Ali from the Computer Science Department.
