The Civil Engineering Department Organizes a Voluntary Visit to “Dar Ommi wa Abi” Elderly Women’s Home
Under the supervision of the Head of the Civil Engineering Department, Prof. Dr. Ali Majid Khudair, and as part of efforts to promote charity and social solidarity, the Civil Engineering Department’s Voluntary Works Committee, in collaboration with the Guidance and Psychological Counseling Unit, organized a visit to “Dar Ommi wa Abi” Elderly Women’s Home, located in Karrada. The visit was attended by a number of faculty members and staff from the department, in addition to all members of the Voluntary Works Committee.
The goal of the visit was to bring joy and happiness to the residents of the home, boost their morale, and compensate for their family deprivation. It also aimed to foster communication and connection with the elderly, as well as encourage children to honor and be kind to their parents, especially during the blessed month of Ramadan, a time of mercy and forgiveness.
Dr. Bakr Raed, a pharmacist from Al-Mahmudiyah Hospital, also participated in the visit and delivered an awareness lecture on aging diseases, including Alzheimer’s, and how to deal with patients suffering from these conditions.
Additionally, the visitors provided in-kind donations such as clothes, medicines, and health supplies. This initiative is part of the humanitarian and service campaigns launched by the department to serve the community, provide support and care for the elderly, alleviate their loneliness, and bring happiness to their hearts.
