
The Department of Materials Engineering holds an awareness seminar on women’s health and early routine cancer screening.
The Women’s Affairs Unit at the Department of Materials Engineering at the University of Technology held an educational seminar titled “Women’s Health and Early Routine Screening for Various Types of Cancer.” The lectures were delivered by Prof. Dr. Lujain Anwar Al-Khazraji from the College of Medicine, Al-Kindi University, Baghdad University, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Raghad Imad Al-Din Naji from the College of Medicine, Al-Kindi University, and Asst. Prof. Dr. Sahar Kareem Raheem from the College of Medical Technologies, Al-Farahidi University. The seminar was attended by the department head, Prof. Dr. Jawad Kazem Alawi, the scientific assistant, Prof. Dr. Kazem Matar Shabeeb, along with several faculty members and students from the department.
The first lecture, delivered by Prof. Dr. Lujain Anwar Al-Khazraji, provided an overview of breast cancer, including a definition of cancer, what breast cancer is, risk factors for women, and methods of prevention.
The second lecture, delivered by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Raghad Imad Al-Din Naji, was titled “Obesity in Women.” It covered the problems and causes of obesity in women, the social challenges that lead women to gain weight, and how to address these challenges through exercise and a balanced lifestyle. It also emphasized setting realistic and achievable goals to maintain good physical health.
The third lecture, delivered by Asst. Prof. Dr. Sahar Kareem Raheem from the College of Medical Technologies, Al-Farahidi University, was titled “The Role of Mental Health in a Woman’s Life.” It focused on the objectives of mental health, sources of psychological stress, and supporting women throughout different stages of life.
The seminar concluded with the presentation of certificates of appreciation to the lecturers by the department head.
