
The Technological University Secures Second Place in the University Innovation and Sustainability Challenge Competition
The team from the Technological University won second place at the National Forum for the University Innovation and Sustainability Challenge Competition, organized by the Department of Student Activities at the Scientific Supervision and Evaluation Authority in the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research. The competition took place from January 20 to October 20, 2024, under the patronage of the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Naeem Al-Aboudi. A total of 45 public universities, private universities, and colleges participated, with the University of Basra hosting the event, which also included several public and private universities, from February 23 to 27, 2025. This was a national competition held among public universities and private universities and colleges.
Dr. Mona Taha Idris, head of the Scout Activities Section in the Department of Student Activities at the Technological University, stated that the university’s participation was under the supervision, encouragement, and interest of the president of the Technological University, Professor Dr. Ahmed Mohammed Hassan Al-Ghaban, and the supervision of the Vice President for Administrative Affairs, Professor Dr. Farhad Mohammed Osman, as well as the Director of the Department of Student Activities, Dr. Amin Dhnoun Ahmed.
She added that the university’s projects and activities were presented in the competition, alongside documentary films and projects related to the ten topics specified by the Ministry. The forum aimed to promote cultural awareness and featured various scouting activities.
The Technological University’s scout team consisted of Scout Leader Dr. Mona Taha Idris, responsible for the Scout Section, Assistant Supervisor Eng. Hind Zahir Khalil from the Department of Control and Systems Engineering, and students: Youssef Mahmoud Farhan from the third year, Hassan Taysir from the second year, both from the Department of Computer Engineering, Azal Emad Hamdi from the fourth year, and Ali Qutaybah Dawood Issam Bashar from the second year, all from the Department of Control and Systems Engineering.
