The University of Technology celebrates National Women’s Day, and the University President awards a letter of thanks to female faculty and staff

On the occasion of the university’s golden jubilee, and coinciding with National Women’s Day under the slogan “Iraqi Women: Partners in Building the Future,” the celebration was attended and sponsored by the University President, Professor Dr. Mohsen Nouri Hamza, and the Scientific Assistants, Prof. Dr. Khawla Saleh Khashan and the Administrative Assistant, Prof. Dr. Farhad Muhammad Othman, as well as a number of department heads, center directors, and female faculty and staff members. The Women’s Affairs Unit at the University of Technology held a celebration that began with the playing of the national anthem, followed by the recitation of verses from the Holy Quran and Surat Al-Fatihah in memory of Iraq’s martyrs.

In her speech, Assistant Professor Dr. Mona Taha, Head of the Women’s Affairs Unit, highlighted the effective role of women in various fields, as well as their vital role in supporting practical and scientific success through academic and administrative leadership and research activities.

Poet Azal Firas, a fourth-year student in the Civil Engineering Department, recited a prose poem titled “We Are Women.”

Student Nour Al-Huda Hamid, from the Department of Electrical Engineering, recited a poem, the text of which is as follows:

She carries a spirit that roams the heavens….

The celebration witnessed the President of the University honoring the distinguished female faculty and staff members with certificates of appreciation in recognition of their efforts and contributions in serving the university’s academic journey. The university president presented a letter of thanks and appreciation to all female lecturers, affiliates and employees on this occasion.
