The University of Technology holds a Ramadan program for dormitory students in cooperation with the al-Abbas’s (pbuh) Holy Shrine on the anniversary of the martyrdom of Imam Ali (peace be upon him).
Under the patronage of the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Naeem Al-Aboudi, the Presidency of the University of Technology held the second annual Ramadan program in cooperation with the General Secretariat of the al-Abbas’s (pbuh) Holy Shrine on the anniversary of the martyrdom of Imam Ali ibn Abi Talib (peace be upon him). The program was held on Tuesday, March 25, 2025, in the university gardens.
The program was attended by the President of the University of Technology, Professor Dr. Mohsen Nouri Hamza, the Administrative Assistant, Professor Dr. Farhad Muhammad Othman, a number of heads of engineering departments, department directors, and representatives of the al-Abbas’s (pbuh) Holy Shrine, as well as dormitory students and Arab students at the university.
The Ramadan evening began with the recitation of verses from the Holy Quran by the reciter Haidar Gul Khan. The national anthem and the anthem of pride of the al-Abbas’s (p) Holy Shrine were then played. Cleric Hussein Jawadi, the representative of the al-Abbas’s (p) Holy Shrine, then delivered an awareness lecture in which he touched upon the exceptional personality of Imam Ali (pbuh), a personality that unites hearts and encompasses everything related to goodness and giving.
He added that the martyrdom of Imam Ali (peace be upon him) is one of the most important events of this blessed month. He has become a symbol for all people, nations, and peoples, and is not limited to one group over another. Millions are influenced by this great and important figure, from various religions and sects. Many sayings, sermons, and letters have been narrated about him, and he is perhaps one of the most influential Islamic figures in terms of intellectual heritage, as evidenced by the book Nahj al-Balagha.
Al-Jawadi pointed out that the holy shrines, including the Holy Abbasid Shrine, have exerted great efforts to support the scientific and intellectual movement, and have a clear impact, cooperation, and activities in many scientific and educational institutions and universities throughout the country to support the state of knowledge and to motivate youth and the new generation to advance themselves and their country. He said, “We always pray for our students and all rising generations to continue their success and adherence to science and knowledge, because nations and peoples are built on knowledge and science and compete with what they possess.”
Cleric Hussein Al-Jawadi extended his thanks and praise to the University of Technology, with all its departments, professors, and students, for providing the opportunity to hold this celebration. Then, the singer Muhammad Amir al-Tamimi recited about Imam Ali, peace be upon him. Verses from the Holy Quran were recited by the reciters Hussein al-Ghazi and Ahmed al-Helou. The evening concluded with the President of the University of Technology distributing gifts to the participants in appreciation of their efforts in organizing the evening.
