The University of Technology host the Iraqi Universities Chess Championship for male and female students

Under the patronage of the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Naeem Al-Aboudi, and under the direct guidance of the President of the University of Technology, Professor Dr. Ahmed Muhammad Hassan Al-Ghaban, the University of Technology hosted Iraqi Universities Chess Championship for male and female students, which is organized by the Student Activities Department in the Scientific Supervision and Evaluation Authority in the Ministry of Higher Education in cooperation with the Iraqi University Sports Federation October 20-24, 2024.

The championship conference held at Sunday, October 20, 2024, in the conference hall in Electromechanical Engineering Department at the university, in the presence of Assistant President of Administrative Affairs, Professor Dr. Farhad Muhammad Othman, the representative of the President of the University, the Head of Electromechanical Engineering Department, Assistant Professor Dr. Ghassan Abdul Hussein Bilal, and the Director of the Student Activities Department at the Ministry of Higher Education, Assistant Professor Dr. Ammar Al-Zubaidi, in addition to the directors of some student activities departments in the universities and the heads of the delegations participating in the championship.

Assistant President of Administrative Affairs, Prof. Dr. Farhad Muhammad Othman, delivered a welcoming speech, conveying the greetings of the President of the University of Technology, Prof. Dr. Ahmed Muhammad Hassan Al-Ghaban, to the Chairman and members of the Ministerial Committee and delegations from the universities, wishing success to the teams participating in the tournament, which is a tool for cooperation, love and knowledge, and creating real competition among students.

The Director of the Student Activities Department at the Ministry, Assistant Professor Dr. Ammar Al-Zubaidi, delivered a speech in which he expressed his thanks and appreciation to the University of Technology, the Iraqi Central Chess Federation and the universities participating in the tournament.

The Director of the Student Activities Department at the University of Technology, Assistant Professor Dr. Amin Dhnoon, delivered a speech welcoming the delegations participating in the conference and tournament and renewing the meeting to host the tournament in cooperation with some governmental and private universities, wishing a pleasant stay during the tournament period, which expresses the strong relationship between students and the expansion of knowledge.

The conference witnessed an explanation of the tournament’s instructions and system by a committee from the Iraqi Chess Federation, which is based on the Swiss system of 9 rounds for male students and 7 rounds for female students, in addition to forming an appeals committee to receive objections from the competing teams.
