The University of Technology Participates in the Central Graduation Ceremony of the Al-Abbas’s (p) Holy Shrine for Iraqi Universities Students

The University of Technology participated in the activities of the Central Graduation Ceremony for Iraqi Universities Students, in its fifth edition (The Fifth Batch on the Guidance of the Moon), which was held by the University and School Relations Division of the Public Relations Department of the Al-Abbas’s (p) Holy Shrine. Under the slogan “From the Rain of Karbala Sprouts Generosity,” the ceremony was part of the Al-Kafeel Youth National Project, with the participation of approximately 5,000 students representing 64 universities from various Iraqi governorates. The closing ceremony, held on Friday evening at the Al-Ameed Educational Complex, was attended by the Legal Custodian of the Holy Shrine, cleric Sayyid Ahmed Al-Safi, and a number of presidents and representatives of Iraqi public and private universities, including the representative of the President of the University of Technology, Prof. Dr. Mohsen Nouri Hamza, and his deputy, the Head of the Department of Control and Systems Engineering, Prof. Dr. Ahmed Sabah. The ceremony was also attended by officials from the shrine, academic figures, and parents of students. Also present was the representative of the teaching and academic staff in the Department of Control and Systems Engineering at the university, Dr. Muhammad Nouri. The ceremony began with the recitation of verses from the Holy Quran by the reciter Rafi Al-Amiri, followed by the Iraqi national anthem and the anthem of the Al-Abbas’s (p) Holy Shrine (the Melody of Pride). The ceremony also included a speech by the Legal Custodian of the Holy Shrine, in which he called on university students to shoulder their responsibility in preserving the principles and values ​​of this country. He added that time flies, and university life in particular can pass in the blink of an eye. This calls for seizing it and not wasting it, as it offers opportunities for self-development, knowledge, and experience. During his speech on behalf of the participating universities, the representative of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research and President of the University of Diyala, Professor Tahseen Hussein Mubarak, praised the efforts of the Holy Abbasid Shrine in making the central graduation ceremony for Iraqi university students an annual tradition befitting the heritage and culture of Iraqi students. Student Redha Ahmed then delivered a speech on behalf of the graduating students. The event included a poetry recital, a theatrical performance titled “Hope,” and a video displaying an inspiring success story. It also included honoring a number of students with disabilities, families of martyrs, and presidents and representatives of the participating universities. The central ceremony, which featured the participation of the University of Technology students, was held on Friday afternoon. The march began with the Iraqi university students participating in the central graduation ceremony, starting from Imam Ali Street, heading towards the shrine of Imam Hussein, peace be upon him, and then heading towards the area between the two holy shrines, arriving at the shrine of Abu al-Fadl al-Abbas, peace be upon him.

As the University of Technology students entered the procession, the master of ceremonies recited moving and beautiful words about the generous university and its great importance in the scientific field and at the national level.

The Iraqi university students repeated the pledge of loyalty to the homeland and the service of its people. The university students also performed the ceremonies of visiting the shrine of Abu al-Fadl al-Abbas, peace be upon him, in a collective manner.

The students participating in the central ceremony created an artistic mural depicting the image of the highest religious authority, His Eminence Grand Ayatollah Sayyid Ali al-Sistani (may his shadow endure), in the Bab al-Qibla Square. The phrase “Religious Authority of the Nation” was inscribed beneath the mural, expressing their gratitude to the supreme religious authority for his role in preserving Iraqi unity. The event concluded with a glider flying over the holy city of Karbala, carrying the banner of the central university graduation ceremony. The glider was flown by international glider pilot Hussein Ali Al-Shihani, a first-year student in the Aircraft Engineering Department of the Mechanical Engineering Department at the University of Technology. The delegation from the University of Technology consisted of Assistant Professor Dr. Amin Thanoon, Director of the Student Activities Department, as head of the delegation; Assistant Professor Dr. Muhannad Najah; Lecturer Dr. Qasim Hanoun; Haider Hamid; Muhammad Fayez; Hussein Karim; and Hassan Ahmed, in addition to 50 students from the University of Technology’s science and engineering departments.
