University of Technology Participates in Launch of 2025 Iraqi University Ranking Project Conference

The University of Technology took part in the fourth edition of the Iraqi University Ranking Project Conference for 2025, organized by the Supervision and Scientific Evaluation Body / Department of Quality Assurance and Academic Accreditation, under the theme: “Enhancing the Quality of Higher Education in Iraqi Universities.” The event was hosted at Al-Turath University, with attendance from key academic figures including:Prof. Dr. Haider Abd Dhahad, Scientific Deputy Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Prof. Dr. Salah Hadi Saleh, Head of the Supervision and Scientific Evaluation Body, Assist. Prof. Dr. Ahmed Kanaan Suleiman, Deputy Head of the Scientific Research Authority for Administrative Affairs, Prof. Dr. Khalid Shanawa Ziyara, Director of the Quality Assurance and Accreditation Department, and A distinguished group of academics, university representatives, and directors of quality assurance and performance departments

The University of Technology was represented by Prof. Dr. Zainab Nasser Jameel, Director of the Quality Assurance and University Performance Department.

During the opening of the conference, the Scientific Deputy Minister delivered a speech on behalf of His Excellency, Minister Dr. Naeem Al-Aboudi, followed by remarks from Prof. Dr. Salah Hadi Saleh.

The conference aimed to raise awareness among educational institutions about the significance of university ranking as a tool for performance assessment and continuous improvement. It also emphasized the institutionalization of quality and academic accreditation practices and highlighted progress in applying quality programs and global academic publishing standards.

The conference concluded with the official launch of the Iraqi University Ranking Criteria for 2025, which includes nine main pillars with the following weight distribution, the Institutional Accreditation (15%), Global Rankings (10%), Sustainable Development and Community Service (10%),Research Effectiveness (35%), Academic and Scientific Reality Assessment (5%), Awards (5%), International Diversity (10%), Activities (5%), and Occupational Health, Safety, and Environmental Protection (5%)

Additionally, the performance evaluation of academic departments will be based on four major pillars:Program Accreditation (35%),Faculty Members (30%),International Diversity (20%), and Global Rankings of Academic Disciplines (15%)

It is noteworthy that the University of Technology ranked first among public universities in the previous edition of the Iraqi University Ranking for the year 2024.
