Advisory Council at the College of Electromechanical Engineering Holds Meeting and Presents Vision for Learning Outcomes

The Industrial Advisory Board at the College of Electromechanical Engineering held a meeting with the departments of Unmanned Aircraft Engineering and Oil and Gas Equipment Engineering, with delegations representing the Ministry of Oil and the Iraqi Engineers Syndicate in attendance. The meeting was chaired by Prof. Dr. Jalal Mohammed, a member of the Ministerial Council for Engineering Accreditation and coordinator of accreditation programs at the college, and supervised by the Dean of the College, Asst. Prof. Dr. Ghassan Abdul-Hussein Bilal, to present the achievements made in obtaining engineering program accreditation.

During the meeting, the Advisory Board presented its vision for learning outcomes, which includes seven key areas, focusing on the development of research, teamwork, time management, and more. Each point was reviewed in detail with the visiting delegation, who offered their suggestions and feedback.

Several developmental proposals were discussed, including establishing mechanisms to connect theoretical knowledge with practical application through involving students in hands-on training programs to enhance their skills. There was also an emphasis on starting the graduation project from the first year, continuing through to the fourth year.

To improve the overall academic, administrative, and service-related aspects of both the Unmanned Aircraft and Oil Equipment departments, attendees encouraged students to focus on research and publication, and to collaborate with graduate students. Additionally, the importance of providing advanced laboratory equipment was highlighted.

The attendees agreed that these important proposals represent a future educational pathway that could contribute to the development of the educational landscape in both departments, enhancing performance quality and fulfilling the vision set to serve the scientific journey and academic community.

The heads of the departments, Asst. Prof. Dr. Ahmed Hamid Rija and Asst. Prof. Dr. Mahmoud Mustafa, also presented summaries of the key accomplishments based on the proposals made during the previous meeting. These included the development of curricula, a summer training program, collaborating supervision with various ministries, and proposals to upgrade the scientific laboratories.

The meeting ended with a speech by the Dean of the College, emphasizing the importance of such joint meetings to expand visions for developing the educational path of the college. He also foxed the significance of turning knowledge into application through the Technological Incubator Law, established by the Iraqi Parliament, which supports the creation of a company with multiple partners. He added that “the College of Electromechanical Engineering is open to developmental ideas that primarily benefit students.”
