
Chemical Engineering Department Organizes Seminar on Child Rights Between Islam and International Covenants
Under the patronage of the President of the University of Technology, Professor Dr. Ahmed Mohammed Hassan Al-Ghabban, and under the supervision of the Dean of the Chemical Engineering Department, Professor Dr. Khaled Ajmi Sakar, the Chemical Engineering Department at the University of Technology organized a seminar entitled “Human Rights Between Islam and International Covenants – Child Rights as a Model” on Wednesday, March 5, 2025.
The lecture was delivered by Assistant Professor Dr. Ghosoun Mazhar Hussein from Al-Mustansiriya University/College of Arts. The session was chaired by Assistant Professor Dr. Bushra Abdullah, Head of the Educational Supervision and Psychological Guidance Unit, and Engineer Hanaa Abdul Kadhim, Head of the Human Rights Unit, served as the session’s rapporteur.
The lecture included a detailed presentation on the most important child rights in Islam and international covenants, and the duties of parents towards children. The true Islamic approach, with its legislations and provisions, has shown great interest in children’s rights, including the child’s right to life and care, which includes providing food, clothing, education, sound upbringing, health care, providing a suitable environment for them, and protecting the child from domestic violence.
At the conclusion of the workshop, the lecturer was honored with a certificate of appreciation from the department’s presidency in recognition of her scientific role in delivering the lecture during the seminar.
