
Department of Oil and Gas Engineering Holds Lecture on the Fundamentals of Sound Scientific Publishing
The Department of Oil and Gas Engineering at the University of Technology held a lecture entitled “Fundamentals of Scientific Publishing: From Research Preparation to Publication in Scientific Journals,” attended by newly appointed faculty members in Akaz Hall.
The lecture, delivered by the Scientific Assistant, Assistant Professor Dr. Emad Abdul Hussein Fakher, included the basic principles of the scientific publishing process and the importance of publishing research in peer-reviewed scientific journals.
The lecturer reviewed the various stages of scientific publishing, starting from preparing the research and submitting it to the journal, through the arbitration and review process by experts, to the final publication. He also highlighted the different types of scientific publishing, such as research articles, books, and conference papers, focusing on how to choose the appropriate journal based on the research topic and impact factor.
The lecturer provided a detailed explanation of the basic structure of scientific research, which includes the title, abstract, introduction, methodology, results, discussion, and conclusion. He also emphasized the necessity of adhering to ethical standards in scientific research, such as honesty in authorship and avoiding plagiarism.
The lecture included a discussion of the challenges that researchers may face during the publishing process, such as research rejection and review delays, and provided practical tips to improve publication success rates.
The lecture concluded by emphasizing the vital role of scientific publishing in promoting knowledge and contributing to the advancement of scientific research, especially in the field of oil and gas engineering.
