Materials Engineering Lecturers Publish Scientific Research in the Field of Nanotechnology and Green Industry with IOP Publishing

Lecturers from Materials Engineering Department at the University of Technology (Prof. Dr. Mayada Shanan Abd, Asst. Prof.  Dr. Basma Hashim Mohammed, and Engineer Ali Hussein Abdul Jabbar) published a scientific research about:

“Microwave-assisted green synthesis of silver nanoparticles using turnip root (Brassica rapasub sp. Rapa), extract and their antibacterial efficacy.”

The research was published in the journal Physica Scripta, by IOP Publishing, which is indexed in Scopus and Clarivate in the first quarter.

The research addressed the preparation of silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) from turnip extract, and a comparative study was conducted between microwave heating and conventional heating.

The synthesized nanoparticles demonstrated high crystallinity and stability, and exhibited antibacterial activity. The study highlighted the potential use of these nanoparticles in medical applications.
