
The Department of Control and Systems Engineering holds an awareness lecture titled “A Learning Environment Based on Development and Human Rights”
The Human Rights Unit in the Department of Control and Systems Engineering at the University of Technology organized an awareness lecture titled “A Learning Environment Based on Development and Human Rights.” The lecture was attended by the Head of the Department, Professor Dr. Ahmed Sabah Abdul-Amir Al-Araji, and a number of faculty members and students. The lecture was supervised by the Head of the Human Rights Unit, Dr. Haider Daami Rasan.
The lecture, delivered by Dr. Alia Abdul-Ridha Abbas, addressed the concept of education from a human rights perspective, emphasizing that the right to education is a fundamental right and that the educational process contributes to the comprehensive development of the individual’s personality and enhances respect for fundamental rights and freedoms in society.
The lecturer also highlighted the importance of education and upbringing in empowering individuals to play an effective role in building a free and healthy society, noting that educational institutions bear a responsibility to provide a supportive and encouraging environment that promotes respect for human dignity and freedom of expression.
The floor was opened for discussion among the attendees, which added an interactive aspect to the discussion, as attendees exchanged opinions and posed constructive questions on the topic. The lecture concluded with a number of important proposals, most notably respecting freedom of opinion and expression within educational institutions, providing for the needs of university students, and emphasizing academic freedom, allowing students to express their opinions without fear or hesitation.
