The Department of Electromechanical Engineering Hosts the (Three Minutes Talk) Competition for Postgraduate Students

The Department of Electromechanical Engineering held a (Three Minutes Talk) competition for postgraduate students (Ph.D. and Master’s) in Al-Kindi Hall.

In the competition, 25 researchers participated, each presenting a summary of their research in just three minutes. The presentation included the following: the project idea, the importance of the project, and the potential application of the project in society.

Dr. Ghassan Abdul-Hussein Bilal, the head of the department, explained that “this competition is based on a format commonly used in the United States, and the purpose of replicating this experience is to develop the researchers’ skills in public speaking and their ability to manage time effectively.”

He encouraged the researchers to “develop their skills on all levels, particularly in terms of having complete knowledge of their research project and being familiar with all its details.”

Dr. Bilal emphasized “presenting the project in a storytelling manner, as this is a skill that captures the attention of the audience. He also advised researchers to avoid tension and anxiety, and to speak with strength and confidence to effectively convince the listeners.”

Three winners will be selected from the Ph.D. students and an equal number from the Master’s students. Their names will be announced later, and the winners will be given the opportunity to participate in the university championship.
