The Undersecretary of Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research honors a research team of students from Chemical Engineering Department at the University of Technology, winners of the Green Education Competition in the beloved city of Mosul
As part of the Ministry of Higher Education’s encouragement of sustainability projects, the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Prof. Dr. Haider Abdul Dhahd, honored a scientific team of students from the Department of Chemical Engineering at the University of Technology, from the P.R.E.CHEM.ENG CLUB team, under the supervision of Dr. Qusay Jaafar Al-Obaidi. Students Adel Khamis Hamid, Raghda Haider Osama, and Abdullah won the Green Education Competition, held by the Green Education and Sustainability Research Association in cooperation with Al-Noor University in Mosul on Saturday, April 11, 2025.
The scientific team was able to purify soil contaminated with organic matter deposited as a result of oil and hydrocarbon contamination using an innovative scientific method, aiming to rid the contaminated soil of harmful substances at a low cost.
It’s worth noting that the University of Technology’s presidency and the Chemical Engineering Department’s presidency work to support innovation and scientific research among promising young people through scientific initiatives, exhibitions, and competitions that help them develop their engineering projects, particularly environmentally friendly ones.
